COLLISION EFFICIENCY

The ratio between the number of drop collisions actually occurring with a larger collector drop to the total number of smaller droplets within the volume swept out by the larger drop. It can also be thought of as the probability of collision between any smaller drop within the volume swept out by the larger drop. In the case where the drops are charged or there is an electric field present, any drops which collide will nearly always coalesce so that the collision and collection efficiencies are nearly equal.
